Especially in regions that are hit with very cold temperatures for long periods of time, it can be difficult to imagine a home in its full beauty and glory when the ground is covered with snow and you are shivering.
Fortunately, for both potential buyers and sellers, house hunting in the winter can have its perks. Let’s check out a few of them.
1. Take advantage of the mild winters in Charlotte.
As we have seen recently, the Charlotte area is not immune to cold and snowy winter weather conditions. However, when compared to other regions of the country, we typically experience relatively mild winters. This can work to your advantage!
Head on out when the weather is nice to check out all that the Charlotte area has to offer. There are so many great outdoor amenities and parks made available to Charlotte communities, and we are lucky enough to be able to take advantage of these perks for the majority of the year.
2. Turn inventory challenges into opportunities.
Overall, the inventory of homes for sale tends to be lower in the winter months. It seems that everyone wants to wait until the weather is warm and the flowers are blooming to sell their house. Make the best of what is available!
If you find something that you love or a place that has potential, go ahead and make that offer. Prices tend to be a little lower and sellers are often more willing to negotiate so they can get the house sold before spring arrives and inventory booms.
3. Be smart about inspection limitations.
It is hard for inspectors to check out some home features during the winter – think pools, outdoor kitchens, irrigation systems and air conditioning. To protect yourself from any issues that may arise, you can negotiate a security deposit into your closing deal and/or request warranties on certain items.
