How Can We Help You?
Henderson Properties built and donated bikes to nine local children at their annual employee meeting which took place Friday, Jan. 24 at the Siskey Family YMCA Hemby Program Center. Employees participated a in team building bike assembly challenge. As a surprise to Henderson employees, children were chosen by the Matthews HELP Center to receive the bikes at the event. The kids, ages 7-9, who wished for bikes at Christmas and did not receive them, were equally surprised to receive a bike, helmet, lock and bell from the Henderson team.
For the exercise, 50 employees in 9 groups were asked to assemble a children’s bicycle in 45 minutes. A bike specialist checked the bikes before they were gifted to the kids.
Tamara Bunte with the Institute for Advanced Results and Dan Perdue with LEVEL 1 2 facilitated the all day staff-training program including the Bike Build exercise.
“We are always looking for ways to unite our employees and give back to the community,” said Phil Henderson, president of Henderson Properties. “This challenge allowed our team to work together, use a different thought process and feel good about the wonderful outcome.”
The Siskey Family YMCA provided the Hemby Program Center to the organization and connected them with the Matthews HELP Center who chose the bike recipients. The children live within their service area, which includes Matthews and nearby communities in both Mecklenburg and Union counties.
“We have partnered with the Siskey YMCA for several years and they assist us with our Back to School and Holiday programs,” said Molly Kennedy, social worker at Matthews HELP Center. “We serve families in crisis who benefit from programs like this and we appreciate Henderson Properties for choosing our deserving clients for this great day.”
